How to get the best out of your VW Campervan experience
"Hi. I'm Harold. I am 49 years old, born in Germany and then shipped to America, where I spend most of my life ending up just inland off the Pacific Coast highway above California. I was getting a little tired but in 2012, I made my way across the Atlantic to England, where I has a complete bare metal renovation and rebuild arranged by Jules and Sue and that's when I met Harry.... "
and "....I want you to get the best out of me, by following a few simple guidelines. Because of my age, I do not drive like a new camper van. That's why you can only hire me within Suffolk and Norfolk. I am well maintained and serviced but I am not as reliable as a modern car and certainly not as economical.
I have front disc brakes but if you want me to stop quickly, you will need to anticipate hazards including changing traffic lights. I don't like speeds much over 50 mph and overtaking is not a good idea. I have to be treated gently and you should always plan any journey so as not to arrive late in case I have any mechanical issues, though Jules is on standby between the hours of 8 am and 6pm , just in case and I do have a 24 hour breakdown and recovery service. I do look super cool though and I am very popular where ever I go. If you need to travel long distances with tight time schedules, please hire a modern camper, but if you want to relax and enjoy the nostalgia of a classic luxury camper van hire, then please hire me and with mutual love and respect, we are sure to have a great time!"
"Hi, I'm Harry, I sadly passed recently, after a long and healthy life. My descendants were all from Germany, though I was a Yorkshire man, born and bred. I was adopted by Sue and Jules as a puppy and I had the best life ever. Lots of walks in the country and on the beach. I loved other dogs and I got to go away in Harold on wonderful camping trips as well as spending time on boats. This is a photo of me when I was at my prime."

"....Here are my top tips for getting the very best out of your short break or holiday with us."
- "Please be aware Harold is a camper van not a motorhome. Most of the storage units inside are full with inventory equipment. You will do best if you keep personal belongings to a minimum, especially if there are more than two people travelling. Sometimes our clients take a second car with them. Most campsites allow this as its just the same space as a towed caravan and car."
- " Harold comes with a drive away awning included with any hire. Though it is down to personal preference, we find its use always enhances the camping experience by opening up an extra private space and without necessarily having to close the noisy sliding door at night if you need a comfort break."
- "With the awning up, you are better off staying at one campsite for at least two nights, rather than spending daily time constructing and dismantling. You can always drive away in Harold, leaving the awning zipped up. We tend to just leave Harold set up for the duration of our stay, selecting sites where we can reach everywhere on foot or cycle."
- "If you do go out for the day, plan to get back in plenty of time before your evening meal, just in case of any mechanical issues. We also find it best to get the camper beds and bedding made up before we go out for the evening, so not to return in dark and have to sort everything out when we are tired."
- "Lastly, every couple of days plus the evening before you plan to drive Harold, please check the engine oil level and ensure Harold starts so you don't not have any last minute delays in the morning. Its best not to have any appointments or flights booked on the day of your return, just in case."
"I hope these tips have proved useful to you and I look forward to meeting you when you arrive to collect Harold.
Love Harry." X
